The Reverend Norman M. Green Jr. died peacefully at his home at Lima Estates, Media, on May 16, 2023.
Norm was the backbone of the Mid-Atlantic Association for 27 years serving many roles such as Vice President, Membership and Sanctions Chair, Treasurer, Financial Secretary, LDR Chair, and Mid-Atlantic Awards Luncheon Coordinator. His pet project was organizing the popular Grand Prix Circuit in 1991.
Beyond the local level, Norm served as a U.S. delegate with World Masters Athletics, oversaw the USATF Masters Hall of Fame, and served on the Masters LDR Executive Committee. He was elected to the first class of the USATF Masters Hall of Fame in 1996.
Many of us remember Norm from his accomplishments on the road, where he broke dozens of national age group records, many of which still stand today. Click Here to view Norm’s USATF retirement handout detailing more of his accomplishments.
While he took pride in his running achievements, Norm’s family was most important. He leaves behind three surviving children, eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. One daughter predeceased him. Norm and his wife Dolores would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in June.
Reverend Norman N. Green Jr. will be remembered for his integrity, passion, and dedication to our sport.
The family is planning a memorial service on June 17 at the Central Baptist Church in Wayne, PA.
